Last week witnessed something of an historic occasion for cricket with England hosting its first-ever day-night Test match against the West Indies at Edgbaston. Sadly the game did not really match the occasion with the hapless Windies totally outplayed by the home side. In another break of tradition it also entailed playing with a pink ball instead of the normal cherry red. The pink ball appeared to behave itself and there were no major complaints from either batsmen or bowlers. The England players certainly weren't complaining about their brief outing at Edgbaston as it gave them a couple of days to improve their golf handicaps.
